On Tuesday, on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that when such a holiday is a thanksgiving, then the state cannot be defeated. “I wish only one thing – victory! Nine to all. You deserve it! All our people deserve it. All our parents, all our children deserve it. Our country and history deserve it. Let’s finally win,” he said.
“Today is the day of our gratitude. This is the meaning of December 6 – and it is forever. Now, this is the only way our people will celebrate the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – with words of gratitude, feelings of gratitude, tears of gratitude,” Zelenskyi said in an address sent on Tuesday evening during a ceremony at the Mariinsky Palace.
He expressed his gratitude to the soldiers, their parents, doctors and nurses and all those who strengthen the defense and provide the soldiers with the necessary.
“When Armed Forces Day in the state is a holiday of gratitude, I am sure that such a state cannot be defeated and not broken. And today we all see it and have seen it before. For eight years and 286 days, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been protecting our beautiful country from Russian aggression. Thousands of Ukrainians gave their lives so that the day would come when not a single occupier would remain on our land and all our people would be free again,” continued the President of Ukraine.
Zelenskyi said that it was an honor for him to spend the whole day with the defenders, he visited the Donetsk region, Kharkiv.
He noted that on Tuesday another 60 soldiers who were in Russian captivity were returned home.
“Now here, in the Mariinsky Palace, are our heroes, relatives of our soldiers, commanders and representatives of brigades and combat units who have just arrived from the front line and are returning to the front line. Where it’s really hot. Where they really fight for our freedom, for our independence, for our children. And I want to say to everyone present what is probably in the heart of every Ukrainian today: thank you! I thank all the soldiers, sailors, sergeants, officers, heroes, generals and, of course, all your fathers and mothers, our dear Ukrainian fighters. I wish only one thing – victory! Nine to all. You deserve it! All our people deserve it. All our parents, all our children deserve it. Our country and history deserve it. Let’s finally win,” concluded Zelensky.
