The Stellantis electric revolution runs through all brands and almost all models. Opel today unveiled the 100% electric version of its compact Astra family. It joins the electric Corsa-e and Mokka-e, as well as the Combo-e, Zafira-e and Vivaro-e SUVs. Astra and Astra Sports Tourer there was none at the moment electrified than plug-in hybrids. This new version came at the right time, as Astra plays in the most active segment in Europe. Opel has already announced that it wants to equip every model with an electric version by 2024. Not with a purpose to offer only zero-emission models in 2028. This goal seems achievable because only Grandland does not yet offer an electric version, currently limited to a plug-in hybrid. The Crossland and Insignia 100% thermal, of course, but they are will be replaced by a new all-electric version.
156 horsepower, range of 416 kilometers
Astra goes electricand within Stellantis, Peugeot recently introduced its e-308. Two cousins create common platforms – it has been – and now also a common voltage. Thus she begins a 115 kW (156 horsepower) electric motor. which delivers 270 Nm of torque It is powered by a 54 kWh lithium-ion battery that promises autonomy of 416 kilometers! The brand claims an average consumption of 14.9 kWh/100 km, figures identical to the Peugeot e-308. It is not known whether there is a version with a greater battery capacity is planned 416 kilometres, it really doesn’t seem like much for a family cardestined to be the most important thing in the economy.
Astra thermal, hybrid, and now electric
These are almost all the novelties that this electric Astra-e has prepared for us. The main thing is to focus on its motorization and battery. It is equipped, for a gesture, with new 18-inch alloy wheels, a badge d behind, and say goodbye to its exhaust. For the rest, like a sedan Sport Tourer station wagon the same Astra L only from 2021. Opel didn’t tell us more about the charging time and the power it will be able to capture. Details will be announced in the coming weeks. It is scheduled to arrive in dealerships in the spring. It will be added to the Astra line in parallel with thermal, hybrid and GSe versions. Therefore, the electric Astra does not replace the last one.
