
Romania is not participating in the World Cup in Qatar, but Rezvan Burleanu (FRF president) and selector Edi Iordenescu are present at the final tournament to “spy” on Switzerland, the rival of the tricolors in the qualifying matches for the 2024 European Championship.
During the match between Brazil and Switzerland, Rezwan Burleanu was caught on TV cameras next to several Seleção legends (Kaka, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo Nazario), as well as other important names from the world of football (George Weah, Yuri Jorkaeff, Noel Le Graet).

Edi Jordenescu watches Switzerland at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar
“Preliminary matches for EURO 2024 will start in March next year, but the technical staff has already started analyzing the opponents. Under these conditions, the selector Edward Iordenescu will go to the World Cup to watch live the matches of the Swiss national team against Brazil and Serbia.
He will be in Qatar from November 28 to December 2, and will also observe other matches,” said the message published on the website of the Romanian Football Federation.

After the draw, which took place on 9 October 2022, Romania was drawn into Group I along with Switzerland, Israel, Kosovo, Belarus and Andorra.
The tricolors will face Switzerland on June 19, 2023 away (9:45 p.m.) and on November 21, 2023 (9:45 p.m.).
