The Economic Police Department has cracked down on a scheme for trafficking in chemicals to adulterate fuels at petrol stations in Attica.

In the case, 4 gang members were arrested and another person was included in the formed case, while 2 gas stations in Attica were identified, which contained a special mechanism for violating the input / output system, one of which was sealed.

According to ELAS in a statement, the relevant information was previously used for a tanker truck that transported chemical solvents and supplied gas stations in Attica.

During an inspection carried out on Wednesday (11/16/2011) at a filling station during the unloading process, it was found that the tanker was loaded with 20,000 liters of counterfeit fuel, for which it did not have documents, a registration license and had a fake chassis number, and it was preceded by the process of unloading at another gas station.

Investigations revealed that the first station was operating without a license as it was revoked by the licensing authority, and 3 remote controls were found that were interfering with the operation of the pumps and I/O system. . It was also found that he did not issue receipts from the tax service when selling falsified fuel. At the same time, samples were taken from tanks and pumps, and they turned out to be irregular – with an admixture of chemical solvents, and a specially designed suction hole for smuggled fuel was located in the tank, where, when it enters the tank, the amount of contraband in the I / O ADE system was not recorded – falsified fuel. Finally, a number of tax data, printouts showing the input/output system and the daily balance, the electronic computer of the input/output system and 1,785.13 euros were confiscated.

At the second gas station: 4 remote controls were found that were used to tamper with the I / O system of the gas station, and fuel samples were taken, which were found to be abnormal.

In addition, during a search conducted in the house of a member of the group, the following were found and seized: a folding glock, 2 air pistols, an iron fist, a tablet and 7,290 euros.

The amount of unpaid duties and taxes from the seized amount of smuggled fuel in the tanker exceeds the amount of 20,000 euros. The digital evidence will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Department for examination.

Arrested persons are delivered to the competent body of the prosecutor’s office.
