A new video has appeared on social networks, which indicates that the VAB armored vehicles, which the Ukrainian army received from France, may have problems with traction in Ukraine due to weather conditions.

French armored personnel carriers have not yet met “rasputita”.Photo: video shooting

The video recording is suggestive, the administrators of the OSINTtechnical page note only that it is still a slushy season, which in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus is called “rasputytsya”:

The first footage of Ukrainian soldiers using the VAB (Véhicule de l’Avant Blindé) obtained from the French appeared at the end of July, when former Paris Defense Minister Florence Parly announced that Paris would send a significant number of such armored vehicles to Ukraine. in a context in which France is already making plans to replace them as the main armored personnel carrier used by its army.

The VAB (Véhicule de l’Avant Blindé) carriers, adopted in 1974, have undergone several upgrades over the years and have been used in virtually every conflict France has been involved in over the past half century.

VAB transporters have a crew of two and can transport up to 10 troops to the battlefield.

France promised Ukraine new military equipment

France has already sent several of its powerful (and much more modern) Caesar self-propelled guns to Ukraine, and President Emmanuel Macron announced back in April that this weapon, developed in the 1990s, would arrive in Kyiv.

A video that surfaced on social media last week shows a Caesar gun being struck by Russian forces from a drone, although it is unclear whether it was destroyed in the attack.

In early October, the government in Paris said it intended to send Ukraine up to 12 of the 15 Caesar self-propelled howitzers requested by Kyiv in negotiations with Denmark, the country originally slated to receive the weapons as part of an arms export contract signed between Paris and Copenhagen.

Although President Emmanuel Macron has been heavily criticized for his repeated comments that Russia should not be humiliated in the war launched by Vladimir Putin on February 24, France was one of the countries that provided significant military aid to Ukraine after the Russian invasion began.

Then, an unusual video appeal, published on October 12 on its Twitter page by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with a request for new military aid to Paris, spread on social networks.

At the end of October, the new Prime Minister of France, Élisabeth Bornet, announced that her country would also supply Ukraine with the Crotal air defense system in the context of repeated strikes by the Russian armed forces on Ukrainian cities and Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said last Friday that more than 10 million Ukrainians were left without electricity on the eve of winter due to Russian attacks on civilian objects.
