The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that the Russian military began surrendering to the drones of Kyiv, releasing a video of the same.

“Drones are the fiercest enemy of the Russian occupiers. But probably not all. I captured the occupier, who understood that surrender is a way to survive, and not to resist the Armed Forces of Ukraine, whose chances of survival are 0,” the Kyiv Ministry of Defense said in a statement released last Friday.

The footage shows a Russian soldier walking unarmed with his hands at his sides to appear to surrender, and at the very end of the frame in the lower right corner of the video, another soldier can be seen, although it is unclear whether he is also a soldier of the invading forces or a Ukrainian defender.

“The drones know,” the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine notes, without saying where and when the video was shot.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has personally called on Russian conscripts to surrender to Ukrainian forces when they enter the battlefield, delivering his message just a day after Vladimir Putin ordered a partial mobilization in Russia on September 21.

“For six months, 55,000 Russian soldiers died in this war. Tens of thousands of wounded and maimed. Do you want more? No? Then protest. Give change. Flee or surrender to Ukrainian captivity. These are your options if you want to survive,” he urged.

Zelenskyi made a similar message earlier during the war that Putin launched on February 24.

And the Iraqis surrendered to American wartime drones

However, insider journalists note that this is not the first known case when a soldier surrendered to drones.

For the first time, such situations were recorded during the Persian Gulf War, when the appearance of reconnaissance drones on the battlefield signaled an imminent strike.

“So when Saddam’s troops saw the drones in the sky, they knew there was going to be an accurate volley,” Dr. James Roger, a historian who specializes in warfare and the use of drones on the battlefield, told Insider.

Some Iraqi troops then tried to signal to the drone that they wanted to surrender, prompting the Americans to send a squad to capture them.

Such a situation used to exist during the war in Ukraine.

The Kyiv drone operator, identified only by the pseudonym “Bob Sala”, told the Ukrainian World Congress in early September that drones were being used in the Kherson region to broadcast a message calling on Russian soldiers to surrender.

According to the Ukrainian operator, three Moscow military personnel complied with the requirements, which, he said, “shows that drones can be used not only to save the lives of Ukrainians, but also to capture Russian soldiers.”

However, we remind you that since this information is difficult to independently confirm, and the information war is waged by both sides of the conflict, it should be treated with a note of caution.
