Peru’s health ministry said 20 passengers were being treated at a clinic, with at least two in serious condition.

The airline said no passengers or crew were killed.

The ministry said 61 people were taken to the nearest clinics and hospitals at Jorge Chavez International Airport. It is unclear whether this was due to injuries or precautions.

President Pedro Castillo expressed his condolences to the families of the two firefighters in a statement on Twitter, saying he was praying for the recovery of the victims.

It is currently unknown why the fire truck left the runway during takeoff.

This is the second incident in less than a month involving LATAM Airlines, after one of its planes had its nose destroyed in a strong storm, forcing it to make an emergency landing.

The Peruvian branch of Chile’s LATAM Airlines said it had deployed all its resources to deal with those affected and was working with authorities to support the investigation.

Video posted on social media showed the plane colliding with a fire engine on the runway before quickly bursting into flames in a cloud of smoke as it came to rest on the ground.
