At the moment electrification we observe a rather unexpected phenomenon in “global automotive geopolitics”. Whereas before the carriers of the industry were the countries of the triad (Europe, USA, Japan), there has been a profound change in this established order, and electricity has much to do with it. China is now in the leadthe great orchestral conductor of electrical technology (he owns the plants, the batteries, the platforms), and we see it coming out of new automotive “powers”. What used to be unthinkable with heat engineering (you can’t improvise like a car manufacturer) is now unthinkable with electricity. This technology exists much easier and faster to develop. So that almost everyone can start!
The return of the Polish brand
And everyone is talking about countries that never had car manufacturers in the past citizens Or others that have lost their historical features through history. In this way, Turkey is developing TOGGSaudi Arabia owns its brand Ceer, Vietnam Winfastand now Poland with Isera, dedicated to 100% electric models. In Poland, the situation is completely different, because the country once had a large car manufacturer, FSO. Founded in 1948, FSO produced Polish cars under its own name until 2000. When her latest models gradually under the Daewoo-FSO brand (a Korean bought it in 1994). We owe him several famous models, such as Warsaw, Siren, Polski-Fiat 125por Polonaise. Therefore, Poland is not the first car manufacturer. !
It is produced in Europe, but according to Chinese technology
For the development of your new brand Izera one would expect the country to favor European technology, but then again China won. Isera will really rest its future models (SUV and 5-door sedan) on the SEA electric platform Geely Group. Of course, it is “the most European of Chinese manufacturers”, owning Volvo, Polestar, Lotus and 50% Smart. But such a decision is surprising. Do Stellantis, Volkswagen or Renault not have the right platforms or technologies?
Striving to contain costs at all costs, we come to too easy to reach China. AND Europe is gradually losing its industrial sovereignty. To believe that the shortage of chips was not enough… It is not only Poland’s fault, but the fault the entire European mechanism of importing Chinese technologies which should be reviewed. Starting with the establishment of protectionism for our car market that would help products developed and/or assembled in Europe. The production of the first copies of Izera is to begin in 2024 at the plant in Jaworzno in southern Poland.
