Doctor Mircea Beuran was acquitted on Thursday by the Giurgi court of bribery charges, prosecutors from the National Anti-Corruption Authority accused him of receiving €10,000 from a doctor to secure his position as a university assistant in general surgery at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy. in Bucharest, News.ro reports.

The court in Giurgiu decided on Thursday to acquit Mircha Beuran of bribery. The court also decided to remove the insurance lien from the amount of 10,000 euros. The decision is not final and may be appealed within ten days of notification.

Two years ago, the prosecutors of the National Anti-corruption Administration – anti-corruption department ordered to send Mircea Beuran to court under judicial control, who at the time of the crime was the president of the university senate, the director of Department 10 Surgery, respectively the head of the discipline of general surgery at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Bucharest, for receiving a bribe.

“On December 18, 2018, the defendant Beuran Mircea, while performing the above-mentioned position, allegedly received from a person, a doctor of a hospital in Bucharest (the witness in question), money and goods in the amount of more than 10,000 euros in connection with the commission of actions that were part of his official duties,” the indictment states.

Specifically, he would have received the relevant money in connection with the performance of some actions that were part of his official duties, regarding taking the position of a university assistant as a witness for a certain period (specializing in general surgery at the UMF

“Carol Davila” Bucharest), duties that the defendant could perform through any actions within his competence, in any of the specified positions.

Doctor Mircea Beuran was detained for 24 hours in February 2020 and then placed under house arrest until March 2020.
