The moment the entire football world has been waiting for has arrived. On Sunday, November 20, Qatar will play with Ecuador in the first match of the World Cup.

In Qatar, 32 national teams will compete for the trophy. 64 matches will be played in eight stadiums.

Famous Lusail Stadium

Its construction began in 2017, and the grand opening took place on November 22, 2021. This is the largest stadium that will host matches of the World Cup. It is designed for 80,000 spectators. The final of the competition will be held at this stadium on December 18.

It is at this stadium that the premiere of the competition between Qatar and Ecuador will take place. It is located in the city of Al Khor, 35 kilometers from Doha. It was opened on February 11, 2020. Accommodates 60,000 spectators.

It was named so because it was made from 974 recycled containers. It was opened on November 30, 2021 and will be dismantled after the end of the event. It can accommodate 40,000 spectators.

Opened October 22, 2021. It can accommodate 40,000 spectators. After the end of the event, the capacity will be halved.

  • Spain – Costa Rica (fifth group)

  • Iran – USA (second group)
  • Canada – Morocco (sixth group)

Khalifa International Stadium

This is the national stadium of Qatar. It was named after Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, the former emir of the country. It was opened in 1976 but has been refurbished for World Cup matches. It seats 45,461 spectators.

Educational city stadium

Opened June 15, 2020. It seats 45,350 spectators. He was nicknamed the “Diamond of the Desert”. 20% of the building materials used are environmentally friendly. After the end of the World Cup, its capacity will be reduced, and students of the city will use it.

It was named after Ahmad bin Ali Al Thani, Emir of Qatar from 1960 to 1972. It was built in 2003 and has a capacity of 21,282 spectators. It was demolished, rebuilt and reopened on December 18, 2020. The new stadium has a capacity of 44,740 spectators.

  • USA – Wales (second group)
  • Belgium – Canada (sixth group)
  • Wales v Iran (second group)
  • Japan – Costa Rica (fifth group)
  • Wales – England (second group)
  • Croatia – Belgium (sixth group)
  • The 1/8 final match will also take place there.

Al Janoub Stadium

It was opened on May 16, 2019. It can accommodate 40,000 spectators. After the end of the World Cup, its capacity will be halved.
