This final tournament hasn’t even started yet because we already have an unfortunate incident that has quickly spread around the world.

Two Danish journalists were threatened by guards during a live broadcast from a public place

Danish reporter Rasmus Tantoldt was with a colleague in Doha, where they were broadcasting live for TV2, and at one point they were attacked by two security guards who were in the area in a golf cart.

Journalists showed them the accreditation, but the reaction of the Qataris was unfortunate, which caused a whole scandal in social networks and beyond.

“If you don’t stop, we will destroy your room.” – agents sent them.

“You invited the whole world here. Why can’t we shoot? This is a public place.” Tantoldt protested.

One of the agents became unruly and tried to take the camera.

You can hack a room. Do you want to hack it? Forward! You are threatening to destroy our room. – said the Danish journalist on the recording.

The International Press Center and the Qatari organizing committee apologized for the incident

According to the Daily Mail, after the incident in Doha, Danish journalists received some apologies.

“I don’t think the message sent by the leaders of Qatar has reached all the security agents. Some may argue that it was a misunderstanding, but it speaks volumes about the situation in Qatar. You may be attacked and threatened when you speak as a free press. This is not a free and democratic country.” – says the journalist’s message.
