Romania’s dream of reaching the semi-finals of the European Women’s Handball Championship was dashed on Tuesday night as the tricolors fell to a dramatic 35-34 loss to Montenegro. The match had a special charge, and some decisions of the referees caused the anger of our girls.
Cristina Nyagu: “Romania deserves more respect”
Ana Vranes and Marlis Wenninger had some controversial decisions, to say the least, and our team’s frustration could be seen during the match and in the post-match comments.
A few hours after the match against Montenegro, Kristina Nyagu published a message on her personal Facebook account.
“Romania deserves more respect. I deserve more respect.
What happened last night goes beyond fair play and respect, values that I value so much in our sport. A sad moment for handball as a whole” – Christina Nyagu.
Among others, Romania had six two-minute suspensions, while Montenegro had only three.
