PSD, PNL and UDMR leaders decided on Monday at a coalition meeting held in parliament that electricity bills could be paid in stages if the bill is more than three months late.
In practice, if the electricity bill is more than three months late, household consumers will have the option of paying in installments.
In addition, Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke said at the end of the meeting that those who receive electricity bills late can pay the amount in installments so that citizens can pay their bill.
“For suppliers who have failed to send invoices on time, it is absolutely not normal for any end user to receive a bill five or six months later and pay the full amount. That’s why I asked to distribute this amount in parts so that citizens could pay their bills,” said the prime minister.
Official sources told HotNews.ro that new changes to Decree 119/2022 on energy have been agreed. In particular, new changes aimed at capping prices at the level of 0.68 lei/kWh for vulnerable categories of consumers will be introduced:
- incomplete families;
- families with three children;
- patients who have medical devices.
Also, hospitals, churches, small businesses, transport and utility companies, pharmaceutical industry will pay 1 lei/kWh.
Also, the price ceiling for domestic consumers looks like this:
- up to 100 kWh per month, the tariff is 0.68 lei/kWh – the price in the account is approx. 70 lei;
- from 100 kWh to 255 kWh per month tariff 0.8 lei/kWh – invoice price approx. 200 lei;
- over 255 kWh up to 300 kWh per month, the tariff is 1.3 lei/kWh – the price on the bill is approx. 260 lei.
Decree 119/2021 on energy price restrictions was discussed by the Chamber of Deputies. Leaders of the PSD, PNL and UDMR groups are to meet on Tuesday to determine the schedule for the discussion of GEO 119/2021 in the specialized commissions.
We will remind, last week the leaders of the Coalition decided that from 2023 the energy market will be 80% regulated. More precisely, 80% of the energy price will be capped, and the remaining 20% will remain freely negotiated on the stock market. In this regard, the government should issue a new emergency decree, which will come into force on January 1, 2023.
