Marios Anagnostou (GS Anagennisi Lamia) was the winner of the 10 km race of the 39th Authentic. Marathon Athens from 30.08 and a new competition record. Panagiotis Petroulakis came in second with a score of 31.05 and Daniel Petsek came in third with a score of 32.18.
From the first kilometer, Anagnosto picked up the pace and kept a margin of safety from Panagiotis Petroulakis, winning the distance for the first time in his career. The winner has won two wins in the event since he took the 5K victory in 2019.
Giorgos Tassis, winner of the previous three competitions, was unable to complete his presence as he dealt with an injury.
“We thank the Federation for this wonderful holiday. I was very pleased with what happened today. I’ve always ridden in five. I saw too many people on the street and also in the stadium this year when I was trying to get into the top ten. I congratulate all my fellow athletes and wish good luck to those who will run tomorrow, and especially Kostas Stamoulis, who will make his debut on the marathon track,” said Marios Anagnostou.
Panagiotis Petroulakis, who was on the podium for the first time on the course, said: “Today I ran again for the first time after five years in the race and I felt very comfortable. The route was very exciting, and I really liked it.”
“For me, this is the best personal result. I took third place, and I really liked it all the way,” said the third participant in today’s race, Petsek.
Among women, Anastasia Marinaku with a score of 33.38 and a new individual record became the winner in the 10 km run. She is followed by Ismini Panagiotopoulou with 35.00 and Irini Tsupaki with 35.16.
Marinaku improved her yearly record of 34:32 (11/13/21) by climbing to the top of the podium.
“The crowd gave me wings,” said Anastasia Marinacu (PAO), adding: “Finishing in this stadium is a unique moment. To be honest, I did not expect such a result, since in the previous days I had problems with an injury. But during the race I realized that I was in very good shape. I am very happy for my fantastic race.”
For her part, Ismini Panayiotopoulou (OKA Kavala) said: “The fact that I am currently training in Lamia with Savvas Koumbouras and next to Marios Anagnostou has helped me. This is my first time participating and the feeling is unique. I am not happy with my performance. My goal is the Off Road Cup in a week.”
Finally, Irini Tsupaki (GS Amarousiou), who just arrived in Greece yesterday from Germany, said: “I ran the course for the first time, that was my goal. Given the complexity of the route, I’m satisfied. I am training with Giorgos Tsaltakis and will stay to compete in the Road Cup on rough terrain.”
