OUR Russia announces a number of initiatives related to cooperation with Turkey in his area natural gas and with export grain during the meeting of its leaders Group 20 (G20) which will take place next week in Indonesia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said today.
“A number of specific initiatives are planned, including the expansion of cooperation with Turkey on gas and the organization of large deliveries of grain and fertilizers,” the report says.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, who will be away from the summit for life, proposed creating what he called a “gas hub” in Turkey through which Russian gas could be sold to the European market.
The foreign ministry said it hopes the summit will help establish a “multipolar” world, a term Putin frequently uses to criticize Western dominance in world affairs.
Russia’s presence at the G20 summit drew criticism from Western countries and Ukraine, who called for Putin to be barred from the meeting.
Russian and Indonesian officials said today that Putin will not attend the summit in person, but may attend via videoconference. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will head the Russian delegation to Bali.
