Former Minister of Transport and Prime Minister Ludovic Orban claims that the story of the construction of the Ploiesti-Brasov highway is starting to turn into a horror movie.
“Unfortunately, things are moving very slowly, I don’t know what is happening, whether the ministry is not cooperating, or whether the companies that have been selected are not completing the documentation at the pace stipulated in the schedule, but the matter is making great progress. slower. (…) You can see that I, as a resident of Brasov, suffer a lot. The airport built by the Brasov District Council will be ready first, in front of the highway. The story of the Ploiesti-Brasov highway is a story that is already starting to turn into a horror movie,” said the ex-prime minister.
In the context, he said that he would conduct an investigation into why the case “turned upside down”.
“While I was the Minister of Transport, in 2007 the technical and economic indicators were practically accepted, the tender was launched, I came out of the pre-selected tender, with four consortia that were to be selected in the final phase. A consortium was chosen, and after he was chosen, six months later he said that he did not have the funding. In fact, the problem was not that he did not have the funding, but that those who had to provide the conditions for receiving funding, did not want to support the consortium that won the tender, and the tender was carried out practically for nothing. The main point is that Ponta also chose the same consortium, also in the public-private partnership tender (.. .) and in the end the contract was not signed because they did not want to provide him with financing. At the moment, he is financed by European funds, it is necessary to urgently complete the feasibility study and the technical project and hold a tender for the registration has been completed. This is a vital section. Practically, DN 1 is the most important route in Romania . It is important to have a motorway, because on DN 1 you have the most traffic, the most number of cars traveling on this route, but it was imperative that this section was completed a long time ago,” said Ludovic Orbán, as quoted by Agerpres.
