Davis Mangia resigned

The Board of Directors of the Malta Football Association announced that it had received and accepted the resignation of Davies Mangia as head coach of the first national team on Monday, Malta Today writes.

Mangia was suspended from management after a player denounced him over alleged sexual harassment. Later, the second player of the national team came forward and accused similar behavior.

The Italian denies allegations of sexual harassment

In a statement sent to the Maltese press through his lawyer, Mangia announced that the decision to resign had been made after “long consideration”.

“I would like to reiterate that not only have I not behaved in a way that offends the sexual or other dignity of any person, but the Malta Football Association has not made any allegation of any sexual abuse or harassment against me.

However, realizing the delicate nature of the circumstances and the importance of the matches that await the national team, I came to the painful decision to take a step back,” said the Italian coach.
