DSU Chairman Raed Arafat told Digi 24 that the Department of Emergency Situations app is in the process of being restored, but will soon be available in a more user-friendly form. Arafat emphasized that in the new application, people will be able to learn first aid techniques, as well as how to protect themselves in various situations, News.ro reports.
Raed Arafat said Thursday night on Digi 24 that the DSU app is currently unavailable for download as it is a work in progress.
“The Department’s application is being rebuilt and it will be a much friendlier form, we have been working on it for some time. It is currently not downloadable until it is updated. We will release his new form this month. There are more tips on how to prepare, how to protect yourself, how to save yourself in some situations, how to help others save themselves, because wherever you go in a country where seismic risk is present, countries that want to increase the population of resilience, teach the population how to survive and how to help each other, how to help each other,” said Raed Arafat.
The head of the DSU added that with the new application, people will learn to help each other before the rescuers arrive.
“The neighbors are the first rescuers. Power will certainly come, but it is impossible for it to appear at all points where it is needed, instantly, simultaneously. That’s why we say: 72 hour supplies, water, non-perishable food, medication for the chronically ill, a flashlight, a radio with batteries, all these things should be there and have them, and if something happens, stay and wait for help and even report that you have there is a problem where you are, then the authorities know where to come to help you,” Arafat also noted.
On April 26, 2016, the Office of Emergency Management launched the “DSU” mobile app, which aims to prepare the public for emergency response through access to information, alerts and training.
