“On September 15, the police officers of the Prahova District Police Inspectorate – Economic Crime Investigation Service conducted 7 searches in the houses of the city of Bucharest and in the counties of Calaras, Dambovitsa and Ilfov of persons suspected of committing fraud crimes. , fraud with particularly serious consequences, forgery in documents with a personal signature and forgery in declarations,” says the press release of IPJ Prahova.

We are talking about 8 people who are currently employees of the Senate, aged from 39 to 72 years old, respectively. Damages amount to 5,700,000 lei.

According to the police, the suspects applied for and obtained 163 loans in several CARs of the country using documents that contained false information regarding the conditions necessary to obtain the loans.

After the searches, 8 mobile phones, 13,000 lei and numerous documents were seized and confiscated.

The Secretary General of the Senate, Mario Oprea, confirmed the information to HotNews.ro, saying that copies of the income certificates of eight parliamentary advisers were requested from the institution for a criminal investigation in rem with facts from 2015.

“On September 23, the Police Inspectorate of the Prahova District issued an order to the Senate of Romania demanding the publication of some documents. These documents refer to the certificates required by eight employees to obtain a loan. We requested from the IPJ Prahova and from the prosecutor’s office attached to the Prahova court, information related to this material of the criminal proceedings in rem, because we need such information: whether these persons have the status of suspects and whether a criminal investigation has been ordered, i.e. if both the act and the person are recognized. Some of the people under investigation now work in the Senate, there are eight people investigated by the police,” Mario Oprea explained to HotNews.ro.

The Secretary General of the Senate explained that the institution cannot apply Law 7/2006 on the Statute of Civil Servants, which provides for the application of sanctions to civil servants, until the police have completed the investigation.
