What films that Quentin Tarantino characterizes as “ideal”? A few days ago, the popular director was a guest on his show. Jimmy Kimmel “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to promote his new book “Cinema Speculation”.
In the book, which is part memoir, part Hollywood history and part film theory, Tarantino writes that there are “very few ‘perfect’ films” and that “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre“is one of them.
The horror film, directed by Tobe Hooper, has become a cult classic since its release in 1974.
Asked by Kimmel what other films he considers “perfect”, the award-winning director replied that “there aren’t many.” And he added: “Besides, when we talk about “perfect” films, we are talking about the aesthetics of any person …”.
Tarantino named films that, in his opinion, can fall into the category of “perfect”: Jaws – Shark Jaws (1975) exorcist – exorcist (1973) Annie Hall – Annie Hall (1977), Young Frankenstein (1974), Back to the future – Back to the future (1985) wild bunch (1969).
“I would say The Wild Bunch fits the bill — and it’s not a perfect movie. Her imperfections are part of her fame, so let’s take her off the list. But it is also a goal. Something so solid,” the director said.
