The support that the NLP gave to Nikusor Dan two years ago to become the mayor-general of the capital is unlikely to be replicated in the next local elections in 2024, says MEP Christian Bouchoy, vice-president of the NLP: “It seems quite comical to me that Nikusor Dan considers the second term”.
- “I think it is extremely unlikely that Nikushor Dan will have the support of the National Liberal Party in the next election, and I think that this delineation will have to be done much sooner.
- I also believe that the PNL should quickly find one or more solutions, a leader who would already start to nominate a candidate on behalf of the PNL for the 2024 elections, because we can find very good solutions in the PNL and try for the next period to convince him, considering all the reasons and including the votes he casts in the General Council, it is urgent for the current mayor to reconsider his position, because in this way Bucharest remains blocked,” said Christian Bushoi in an interview with Gândul.
He stated that the blockade in Bucharest was unacceptable and that he would ask the PNL “to stop supporting this approach of the current mayor-general”.
- “As for the candidacy (Nikusor Dan’s number in the capital city hall), obviously, from my point of view, it cannot be taken into account.
- I find it rather comical to see that the current mayor-general is considering a second term,” added Christian Bouchoy.
PSD has already announced that the former mayor of the capital, Gabriela Firea, will run again for the capital’s mayor’s office in 2024.
