A recording of Romanians protesting against the deployment of NATO troops on the territory of our country and the help offered to Ukraine by the government in Bucharest is circulating on social networks.

Several propaganda Twitter accounts are spreading false information about the so-called “massive” protests that took place in Romania earlier this week.

“Romanians often protest, but I have never seen anything like this. So much bitterness. People are against the transfer of NATO troops to the country,” wrote a Twitter user in a post accompanied by a video clip from a protest in Romania, in which people can clearly be heard shouting “Freedom! Freedom!”.

“Romanians do not want to become cannon fodder for NATO” is also one of the manipulative messages of propagandists.

The images he is sharing are taken in the center of Bucharest, near Piața Victoriei, the site of the largest street protests since 1989 against the amendments to the justice laws initiated by the famous GEO 13 in the period 2017-2019.

In recent hours, Russian propagandists have been spreading other information about Romanians online.

“Meanwhile, an incident occurred in the north of Ukraine, when Romanian and Polish troops were ordered to attack Russian positions, but refused the suicidal mission. After that, the counter-retreat forces of the Nazis in the Right Sector tried to force them to attack, as a result of which 12 Nazis were killed,” writes another Putin troll on Twitter.

Also, Russian propagandists use a video clip of Senator Diana Ivanovych Shoshoake, in which she rebels against the deployment of NATO troops on the territory of Romania.

“Don’t allow any American division to escalate a conflict not between Russia and NATO, but between Russia and Ukraine over territories that used to belong to Russia,” Sosoake said in a video shared on Twitter.

The manipulative messages appeared shortly after the American CBS channel reported on the elite troops of the 101st Airborne Division stationed in Romania.

Russia will consider the deployment of American troops in Romania while ensuring its own security

Moscow came up with new excuses and threats on Wednesday, this time also referring to Romania, which has been on the list of “countries unfriendly to Russia” since March, shortly after the invasion of Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the deployment of American troops in Romania will increase the danger for Russia, and Moscow will take this into account when ensuring its own security, writes the Russian state news agency TASS. Although American troops stationed in Romania perform a purely defensive role.

Elite troops of the US 101st Airborne Division: “We defend every inch of NATO land”

CBS reported from Romania with elite US troops from the 101st Airborne Division, known as the Screaming Eagles.

The division was stationed in Romania, a few kilometers from the border with Ukraine, for NATO defense exercises.

The 101st Airborne Division is a US Army light infantry division that specializes in amphibious operations. It can plan, coordinate, and execute multiple battalion-sized amphibious operations to occupy terrain.

The mentioned division has been sent to NATO member countries since August to protect the eastern flank of the alliance.

In a statement posted on Twitter on August 11, the US Mission to NATO said that approximately 2,400 troops had been deployed to Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia “to reassure our allies and deter our adversaries”.
