Taking into account the large increase in prices, you need to think about savings. Let’s not spend money on things we don’t need and, above all, try to avoid food waste.

HotNews.ro recently invited Adrian Kerusera, a money management coach, to “Coffee in a small studio”. It does not offer advice, but presents some ideas that may be worth considering.

What Adrian says to Caruser:

1. List before shopping

It can be frustrating to make a list, follow it, stick to it. Between two products of similar quality, I will probably choose the lower price if the only difference is price. Price is the deciding factor in my choice.

I have a history of behavior and what ends, I replace. I try to avoid food waste as much as possible. Today it is such a common element.

I try to avoid this by making this list and buying as much as I need as much as possible. There are also small mistakes, I can’t help but admit it, because we are all human and this is a certain impulse.

2. Timely payment of taxes and utility bills

If you pay your debts, taxes, utility bills, and generally any payment obligations that have a due date on time, you’re making some savings without realizing it by not having to pay penalty interest, late fees or, in the case of some utility providers, these reconnection fees if you haven’t paid your bill on time.

Some find it important to pay their bills on time, others have no problem being a few days late, but some amounts do count. If this behavior continues month after month, maybe at some point those amounts will amount to something.

3. Don’t go shopping if you’re hungry

One metric to consider is this entire shopping universe. Speaking of what I was talking about with the grocery list, shopping when you’re not hungry.

Feeling hungry brings out deeper, stronger, more pronounced buying behavior, especially food, where there is the most waste.

4. Do not go shopping with children

No matter how unfair it may seem to someone, do not go shopping with children, especially if they are small. Children see a lot, they want even more than they see, and then in many situations it is impossible for them to resist.

If we start thinking about these things, maybe we’ll get somewhere.

In August, HotNews.ro published an article on how we are protecting ourselves from our own recession, inspired by a story in the foreign economic press, in which we offered some ideas. Two of them:

Savings on subscriptions to various services

You may have subscriptions to streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and more.

It may be worth considering whether it is worth spending time and money on these services. Instead, you can borrow books for free in the library, many have new shelves if you want new literature.

Also, if you don’t watch TV, you might want to consider keeping your subscription. If you still want to keep it, see if you can find a better deal. If you have expired, you may be able to get a better deal.

Gasoline and diesel fuel costs

If you can get to the office without a personal car, public transport is a good idea to save money. That is, to save money on fuel (gasoline, diesel fuel).
