The President of Turkey also referred to Mr. Menendez emphasizing that “the statements of senators like Menendez are personal opinions, personal statements. They in no way reflect the institutional situation. In addition, their relations with Greece are also the subject of a separate study. It’s all about how Congress and the Senate as a whole will operate.”
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu he spoke out harshly against the US and accused them of being “hooligans”. In his speech in Mersini, Mr. Cavusoglu emphasized that “we see that one country is threatening other countries, especially Saudi Arabia. These “hooligans” are wrong. We don’t think the US should put pressure on Saudi Arabia or any other country. Today the whole world needs Venezuelan gas and oil. On the other hand, there is an embargo on Iranian oil. Lift these sanctions.”
Athens and Nicosia
Mr. Cavusoglu said that Washington has lost balance in relations with Turkey, Greece and Cyprus. With regard to Greek-Turkish relations, the Turkish Foreign Minister stated that “for Greece and the Greek Cypriots, we say the following. It doesn’t matter who is behind them and who supports them. What matters is who is against them. Turkey matters, not who supports it.”
