The national strategy for the development of sports is open for public discussion.

If we succeed, we have a chance to become what we were once again. We discuss it for 30 days, after which we will develop a draft Government resolution, it will be approved by the Government, and then it will be in the Official Gazette” – Eduard Novak.

“Guaranteedly, if we can implement this project, infrastructure, activities, protection of federations and build in 10-15 years, Romania is able to win 20-30 medals at the Olympic Games. Easy,” he added Novice.

The document includes 70 strategic tasks, News.ro reports.

“The final concept of the infrastructural strategy is to have a sports facility for priority sports in every district seat,” the minister also said.

On Tuesday, a draft of the final strategic document was presented to the Inter-Ministerial Working Group at Victoria Palace.

The National Sports Development Strategy for 2022-2032 is a framework document that establishes the development vision and main directions, the main function of which is to direct and consolidate all efforts, resources and actions carried out in an agreed direction, which positions sports as a national priority.

The most important strategic goals for sports in Romania

1. Prioritization of traditional Olympic sports that have brought achievements to Romania.

2. Creation of a predictable and transparent sports system.

3. Decentralization of sports structures and bases from state structures.

4. Funding of priority federations based on long-term strategies, with ultimate goals at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as intermediate goals.

5. Creation of a system in which performance athletes can train in the best conditions, with an emphasis on the concept of centralized controlled training. The concept of a pyramid sports system is built around several regional training centers or Olympic centers (6 summer and 3 winter), which will be able to function for priority sports and will be independent.

6. An infrastructural strategy, which should also focus on the idea of developing priority sports (within 10 years, every residence in the district should have infrastructure for these priority sports).

7. Investments through state programs to create new types of activities – a concrete plan to give life to sports bases (for example: a special program to pay coaches and instructors to create priority sports in areas where they are not a tradition).

8. Development of a system of specialization of coaches, as an integral part of the Law on Sports.

9. The new Law on Sports, which will promote the development of sports and ensure stability.

10. Creation of a system in which former successful athletes have priority when returning to the sports system.
