On Monday, deputies discussed a simple motion against Interior Minister Lucian Bode. From the rostrum of the plenary session, the Minister of Internal Affairs sharply warned the opposition, and the People’s Deputies exchanged apostrophes and scolded each other. Among the images there is an apostrophe such as “you are not only a liar, but also a scoundrel”, “ordinary scum” and “intellectually ill-equipped”.

The debate on the simple motion against Interior Minister Lucian Bode took place on Monday in the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies, and the vote will take place on Wednesday.

The proposal was submitted by 55 UDR deputies and non-factional deputies from the Forza Dretei party.

18:05Lucian Bode responds to Ludovic Orbán: “I think you have a mania for persecution, I don’t think anyone accused you from this microphone, I am sure that I quoted from public sources from this microphone and told you that you are not doing it well . However, I will give you an answer …. I cannot accept the lies and the fact that you have proven that you are not only a liar, but also a scoundrel. In 2020, when the so-called secrecy of my PhD thesis was breached, you were the Prime Minister and I informed you of all the steps I was taking, and you know very well that you answered, and I do not want to repeat myself here. that I am ashamed.”

17:17Stelian Ion responds to PSD MP: You must be very poorly intellectually trained to use the derogatory term disabled. I am not disabled, but if I were, I would not be ashamed, because there are many people with disabilities! I would be ashamed if I were a scumbag, an ordinary scumbag, who is used by the current government as a pipe with absolutely no one to vent their grievances to the opposition.

17:10PSD deputy Radu Kristescu from the plenary gallery: Who is there in the hall? Is Stelitsa still breathing? Does he no longer have that (red allowance) for the disabled?

17:03Ludovic Orbán directly to the answer to Lucian Bode: “About 8 years ago there was a prime minister who threatened me with prison using the name of the same person, and I am very interested to tell my fellow MPs how do you know where in do you have information about a man who is serving a sentence in the form of deprivation of liberty and who is in custody? How do you allow yourself to threaten a deputy with information that if you have it, then you are breaking the law and that you are obtaining information illegally, and if you do not have it, then you are lying.”

16:55George Simion (AUR): “Next you will vote for Mr. Schmidt’s business, the purchase of Klaus Iohannis, 600 BMW cars, paid for with Romanian money, because this is how it is done in our country. This is why Minister Bode has to go, because this kind of business may have been done in the 90s, early 2000, but we are in 2022 and you will have consequences, I think (…) Colleagues still have many reasons , I will give you one, you are the political police, you participated in the opening of two criminal cases against me.”

16:47Catalin Drula says the vote to fire Lucian Bode is an act of patriotism, as keeping him as interior minister puts Romania’s entry into Schengen at risk.

16:41Catalin Drula: It is hard to imagine such audacity and stupidity. The PNRR, signed by Florin Sitsu, is a program of reforms that the current Coalition is unable to implement.

The USR leader claims that the technical conditions for the MAI special vehicle were not approved by him as the Minister of Transport, but by Bode.

  • “The contract for 600 BMWs from a friend of President Yohannis is not accidental. Three more contracts with the only participant, a friend of the president in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Annex two, which you do not show to the press, was written by MAI. A technical application is not the same as a specification, you will answer this in the request. 4 centimeters, this is approximately confidence in the coalition.
  • At the Ministry of Transport you paid double the price for border boats compared to Belgium. 50 million euros stolen during the pandemic.
  • You have a story, Mr. Bode. Are you a beneficiary or a fixer? What matters is how much damage you do to Romania. You are a security vulnerability for Romania. Keeping you in office puts your Schengen membership at risk. We cannot miss because of the tender minister.

16:31 Lucian Bode accuses the Ukrainian SSR of sabotaging Romania’s accession to Schengen, having other interests. “How do you insert anti-Schengen messages into party points, Mr. Drula? You are making a fool of yourself with all these anti-Romanian lies,” he said.

“You made fun of the BMW allegations and the plagiarism allegations,” he continued.

16:22 Lucian Bode attacks USR and Forța Dreptei leaders Catalin Drula and Ludovic Orbán. He tells Ludovic Orbán that he was involved in an accident, claiming that the car belonged to Nel Iordake, who in the meantime “became a writer”.

  • “Mr. Drula can be accused of two operations during his tenure as Minister of Transport – the microphone rake operation and the ax operation. Nothing about Blue Air? Mr. Orbán? Where are you, where have you been hiding? Didn’t Nelu Iordake let you write about Blue Air? Of course, it doesn’t help Mr. Drula either… Mr. Orban, do you see how fate unfolds? Talk about buying a BMW. As if the BMW was also the car you had an accident with when you were the Minister of Transport… Or it was an Audi… Of course it was borrowed from Nelu Iordake. This is not good. I heard that Nelu Iordake became a writer.”

“Mr. Drula, I’ve seen mythomaniacs in Romanian politics before and you know they didn’t end well,” Bode said, insisting the USR leader had signed the now-disputed technical specification documents.

The meeting, which is attended by 217 deputies, is held in the presence of Minister Lucian Bode and is chaired by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Čolaku.

USR MP Christian Seidler read the proposal at the plenary session.

The signatories demand that Minister Bode leave the leadership of the MAI, as he failed to reform the institution. According to them, the “biggest success” of Bode’s mandate is “a tender with a target purpose for the purchase of 600 BMWs from a friend of the president, Klaus Iohannis.”

“After almost two years of working in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, no one doubts anymore that Minister Lucian Bode’s priority is to protect the interests of the party, not the people. And when he is not worried about the interests of the party, Mr. Bode takes care of the interests of criminals, political clients and friends of his direct boss Klaus Iohannis. After all, everything could have been different when you put at the head of the MAI a person who, when he was Minister of Transport, proved that does he care about the law? Or have you forgotten the episode with the minister’s car, which, while overtaking on a solid road, caused an accident on the bridge, as a result of which two people were injured?”, the movement says.

Bode is also accused of having classified his doctoral thesis “a day before the deadline announced for full publication” and becoming “the father of corruption in the ministry”.

At first, a simple movement called “Security and trust or debauchery and theft? Minister Bode must answer for the disaster he caused’ was due to be discussed last week but was postponed at the request of the minister, who announced that he was ‘engaged in a series of events with foreign officials’.
