At noon, tensions arose in the plenary hall of the Parliament, with President Sophia Sakorafa describing the behavior of her deputy as “unacceptable behavior.” SYRIZA-PS, Pavlos Polakis during the speech of the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiadis in the context of the discussion of the bill on business parks.
This was preceded by a speech by Mr. Polakis, in which he personally responded to the position of ND MP K. Maravejas regarding the case of financing his wife’s company. The main opposition MP criticized the government for changing the development law to include the “photographic” businesses (nursing homes and rehabilitation centers) where he (Mr. Maravehi’s wife) works.
While Mr. Georgiadis was replying from the podium that although the statement of Mr. Maraveya’s wife was included in the final table, he did not receive the necessary individual paper to start the statement, Mr. Polakis intervened, standing up and interrupting the speaker. Ms. Sakorafa told Mr. Polakis that she was not in the village cafe, but in Parliament, and when Mr. Polakis kept interrupting, the presiding officer called for security to escort the deputy out of the hall.
Subsequently, Mr. Georgiadis said the law had indeed been amended to include other Activity Code (KAD) numbers such as nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. As he pointed out, this was not done for Mr. Maravejas, but in order to attract more entrepreneurs to the development law. I didn’t know Maravey’s wife had applied for funding, I didn’t even know her name, until Polakis’ complaint, Mr. Georgiadis said, adding, “Mr. Polakis is making us all thieves in a rage.”
