According to Ukrainian officials quoted by CNN, an 11-year-old boy who was rescued from the rubble of a building in Mykolaiv that was bombed by Russian forces has died in hospital.
The head of the military administration of the Mykolaiv region, Vitaly Kim, said that a boy named Artem was taken to the regional hospital, his heart stopped.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine said the boy was buried overnight under the rubble of the five-story building for more than six hours before he was finally rescued early Thursday morning.
“All this time, he bravely resisted, listening to the advice of the rescuers, who tried in every way to support him during the emergency work,” the Service reported.
“I’m at a loss for words,” Kim said.
