Fuel: the discount can be extended at TotalEnergies News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your inbox

It was supposed to be a great opportunity for motorists. From September 1, the government actually introduced a discount of 30 cents on all types of fuel. A good discount that can also be combined with the 20 cent discount that TotalEnergies offers on all of theirs gas station. A nice gift for motorists after long hard months when petrol and diesel sometimes exceeded the 2.30 euro mark. Except that the drivers did not actually have time to take advantage of this acceleration. TotalEnergies stations were indeed quickly stormed and depleted. But that’s not all, because together with this, a strike has started, which prevents motorists from restocking.

Before expansion?

As a result, only a few managed to take advantage of the discount, especially after the price of fuel start climbing again. The question is high demand with very low supply. And that doesn’t sit well with the government, which will act to limit the increase in the amount paid at the petrol station, which has been bloated by shortages. But that’s not all. Indeed, he also wants TotalEnergies to extend his discount beyond October 31, when it was due to drop to 10 cents. At the RMC microphone, Minister Plenipotentiary for Environmental Development and Territorial Unity responsible for transport, Clément Beaune, stated his desire to ask the oil group to act. It remains to be seen whether the latter will agree…

What about the government?

Inevitably, the question also burns our lips: government will he also increase his discount by 30 cents? And it is not for nothing that it also needs to be lowered in order to move to 10 cents from November 1. At the moment, nothing has been clarified on this topic. But in any case, it’s also difficult to take advantage of this boost when more than a third of service stations are currently closed due to the ongoing strike across France. And, it seems, he doesn’t want to stop yet.
