Lionel Messi is the best soccer player of all time according to FourFourTwo. The British magazine decided to compile a list of the 100 best of all time.
The related publication states that such lists are “meaningless” because they can be entered differently each time. However, it is noted that the magazine selected those who “had the most influence at the time they fought, those who have remained engraved in the collective memory and who have gone far with their talent and their achievements.”
Topping the list is Lionel Messi. As the magazine explains: “It is one thing to climb to the top, and quite another to stay there. Only thanks to the evolution of Messi managed to maintain his level. The dribbler has evolved into a mature playmaker who now decides the course of the game while continuing to play a decisive role in the last third of the field. Messi has never had a more balanced game, dribbling and scoring. As Javier Masserano said, it’s three players in one.”
In second place is Diego Maradona, and Cristiano Ronaldo closes the top three. Pele is fourth and Zinedine Zidane is fifth.
The top ten also included Johan Cruyff, George Best, Franz Beckenbauer, Ferenc Puskas and the Brazilian Ronaldo.
