In Stâna de Vale, rainfall reached 400mm last month, while in Alba Iulia the record set in 1941 was exceeded, according to ANM figures for last month.

Where it was hot and where it was cold

In September 2022, the absolute maximum of the monthly temperature at one weather station, the monthly amount of precipitation, the absolute maximum, at 17 weather stations and the amount of precipitation that fell in 24 hours, the absolute maximum, at 8 weather stations were exceeded.

The average temperature in September 2022 ranged from 1.9 °C at the weather station Vf.Omu to 19.7 °C in Constanta. In Ohm, the temperature ranged from -7.2°C to +10.3°C. In Constanta, the temperature ranged from +8.4°C to +33°C.

The deviation of the average air temperature for September 2022 from the median of the standard interval (1991-2020) in most of the country was negative. Large negative deviations, more than 1.0 °C, were recorded locally, in Krishan and in the mountainous area. The highest value of the negative deviation was 1.6 °C at the Ceahlău Toaca weather station.

Positive deviations were registered in Dobruja and the Danube Delta, on large areas in Muntenia, in the south of Moldova, and separately in other regions. The highest value of positive deviation was 1.2 °C at Călăraşi weather station.

In Mangalia on September 15, the hottest day of the ninth month, it was +34.6°C, breaking the record set 35 years ago.

Record rains

Total precipitation in September 2022 was below 50 mm in most of Dobrudja and the Danube Delta, large areas in Muntenia and Moldova, and isolated in Transylvania

Locally, in the mountainous area, the amount of precipitation recorded in September 2022 was more than 200 mm, and isolated – more than 300 mm. The highest value of precipitation in this month was 399.6 mm, at the weather station Stâna de Vale, and the highest value of the amount of precipitation that fell in 24 hours in September 2022 was recorded at the weather station Urzichen. The record from Stâna de Vale dates back to 2001 and the record from Urziceni to 2005. All these records are for September.

At Bâlea Lac, total rainfall was 289.8 mm, nearly 20% above the September 2007 record. In Bistrita and Dej, the records of September 1978 were broken.

In Alba Iulia, 42 mm of rain fell on September 2, 2022, surpassing the record of 37 mm on September 1, 1941. In Poyan Stampey, the record of 1955 was exceeded.

Another city that received a lot of rain was Baia Mare: 206 mm, which broke the 26-year-old record.

The lowest value of monthly precipitation in September 2022 was recorded at the Tulcea weather station (14.6 mm).

The deviation of precipitation in September 2022 from the median of the standard interval (1991-2020), calculated as a percentage, was positive in most of the country. High values ​​of positive deviation, more than 150%, were registered in Banat, Krishan, Maramures, Transylvania and separately in Oltenia and Muntenia. At 16 weather stations located in these regions, the deviation exceeded 200% of the 1991-2020 median.

The largest value of positive deviation this month was 285% at the Urzichen weather station. Negative deviations were registered in Muntenia, Dobrudja, in the south of Moldova and isolated in mountainous areas. The highest value of negative deviation was 73%, at the Obârsia Lotrului weather station.
