
The Romanian filmmakers behind the concept of the first Dacian ghetto series, Getii: Superstition and War, Florin Angel and Paul Arion, are in talks to take over and revive the entire chain of cinemas in the historic Autonomous Kingdom of Cinema. and Exploitation (RADEF) RomaniaFilm, writes news.ro.
At the beginning of 2018, Profit.ro announced that RADEF had declared bankruptcy at the request of the tax office, which had to collect more than 25 million lei.
RADEF started in the market after the revolution with a portfolio of approximately 600 cinemas and thousands of employees, and at the time of bankruptcy it had only 16 cinemas operating in the country, of which only one was in Bucharest.
Now, the company of two Romanian directors is negotiating to take over a chain of cinemas.
“We are currently negotiating the acquisition of the Romanian chain of RADEF cinemas. The goal is for our company to own 26 cinemas across the country, of which 6 have been completely renovated, bringing in an income of around 200,000 euros per year, and another 20 are awaiting technological modernization,” said a company document analyzed by Profit.ro.
