They say that the window is good, but from the back … medicine. A few years ago, when there were even individual successes of our teams in European competitions, the light hid the darkness that reigned in Greek football.
Year after year we have come to the present day, when we have only one representative, and he is in imminent danger of ending his career after three remaining races. And, unfortunately, this tragic development of events with a catastrophic position, 20th, which we occupy in the pan-European standings, does not seem to touch or disturb anyone.
On the contrary, between financially responsible state bodies, the EPO and the fathers of football, there is a “war”, the only victim of which is the sport, which is discredited.
Any disputes and rivalries for the competitive superiority of “our team” have been referred to the EPO offices, mainly to control refereeing, and this behind-the-scenes battle has recently had a new victim: pure amateur football.
Suspension of all local categories is being discussed, from which new players are expected to enter the PAE rosters, and then all of our national teams. Thousands, mostly young footballers, remain without official games. As a rule, the conflict arises between the government and the EPO.
But in essence, it happens that … buffaloes fight in a swamp, and frogs pay for it. Because, as at all social levels, any conflict of the great leads to disastrous consequences for the weak.
