The Spanish Football Federation has announced its partnership with Portugal and Ukraine to bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. As stated in the related announcement, the partnership of the three countries is supported by UEFA.

“Luis Rubiales and Fernando Gómez, the heads of the Spanish and Portuguese federations, believe that there is nothing better than the World Cup to convey a message that will serve as a source of inspiration for the future,” reads the related announcement.

“The candidacy strengthens ties with Europe, instilling hope and providing tools for recovery to the Ukrainian people, who expressed their pride and gratitude for participating in this project,” the message says.

Antonio Lananjo will be the chairman of the coordinating committee. Eleven Spanish stadiums and three Portuguese stadiums will participate in the application. Apparently, Ukraine will host the group stage of the tournament.

The Times, in an article on Tuesday, revealed the intentions of the three countries. As reported by the British newspaper, the proposal is based on the idea that football can bring back hope and peace, as Ukraine has been at war with Russia for 7.5 months.

According to the publication, the organizers expect that by 2030 the Russian invasion will end. Ukrainians believe that the restoration of the country will begin much earlier.
