Political sources told HotNews.ro that the favorite of the Ministry of Education will be Ligia Deka, the adviser to the president in the Department of Education and Research and the author of the “Educated Romania” project. Other names that have appeared in the sources are Sorin Kostreje, advisor to Prime Minister Chuke, and PNL deputy Alexandru Muraru.

“The Dec League has every chance of getting nominated. Participated in the presidential project and in the development of laws on education. He is a confidant of the president. Options were provided from Cotroceni. Nothing was discussed at the party, there have been no meetings for a year,” HotNews.ro sources explained.

Ligia Deka is an adviser to the President in the Department of Education and Research, who worked on the “Educated Romania” project.

Deputy Alexandru Muraru is a PNL deputy from Iași, president of the PNL Iași organization and advisor to Prime Minister Čuke, specializing in the history of the Holocaust and communism. In the NLP, he is known as close to President Klaus Iohannis. Also, his twin brother Alexandru Muraru is the ambassador of Romania to the USA.

Another name that was circulated publicly is that of Sorin Kostreje, a State Councilor in the government, former vice-chancellor of the University of Bucharest. Kostreya’s name was also floated in the education portfolio when Ludovic Orbán led the PNL.

It will be recalled that Sorin Kimpeanu announced on Thursday evening on Facebook his resignation from the post of Minister of Education due to accusations of plagiarism. Cîmpeanu was supported, proposed and supported by President Klaus Iohannis for the education portfolio in the government of Florin Kitsu and headed by Nicolae Chuke.

Iohannis also appointed him as interim prime minister in 2015 after Victor Ponta resigned following street protests sparked by the Colectiv fire.
