From a collection of short stories”Sweet penicillin» released in 2018, Marina Papageorgiou returns with his second book, the novel “Drink tea, Semiramide.(Cactus editions).
The main characters of the story are the sisters Thalia and Erato. Thalia is a native of M Street. She doesn’t move except to work in the office of Bracida Huck and Teri Hamilotori.
The sisters live together. Neighbors call them “the muses in the neighborhood.” There is no silence on the third half of the floor, the neighbors are laughing, fighting, dancing, making noise. But Thalia and Erato live “on the dark side of the floor”, and let Mr. K. no longer be alive.
Excerpt from the book:
The moon landing took place in the living room. Some say it never happened and that’s a lie. But it happened, and there are many witnesses to this.
Not all of them, but there are many who remember it, and, of course, Penelope and I.
The facts were these, and we can put our signature:
“Landing on the moon was on the third floor, and landing on the first floor. Signature: Thalia – Penelope”.
What did landing on the moon actually mean?
For the general, the moon was the brightest star.
For his wife, it was stones and dirt – and no life.
For George and Georgia, this was the start of their new home.
For children it was a surprise holiday in July.
For Erato it was an agonizing night among the people.
For me, traveling to the moon was too far. However, landing on the moon in the living room was an unforgettable experience for me. It was the first time I was in a house full of life!
