ladies pensions states are concerned with 50% of pending pension applications, with the total “stock” at its lowest level since at least its inception. EFKAas only 31,000 applications were pending at the end of August.
Overall, since 2016, 97% of overdue basic pensions have been issued, and last month a new record for pension payments was set with over 20,000 pension decisions. Moreover, it is characteristic that 5 former EFKA funds and 10 departments canceled their debts. The arrears of pensions also reach zero, which, if in May 2020 was 693 million euros, has now decreased to 40 million euros. The debt for 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 is now zero: for 2020 97% of applications have been completed, for 2021 – 91%, and for 2022 – more than 85% of applications have already been processed. Applications are due by the end of May. Be careful, however, this huge progress only applies to applications for basic pensions that are overdue, that is, they are pending for more than 90 days, not including international pensions, as well as applications for supplementary and lump-sum pensions. At the same time, applications for parallel retirement are also being considered.
In particular, overdue basic pensions at the end of August amounted to 31 thousand. Of these, approximately 15,000 relate to state pensions. According to the Minister of Labor Kostis Hatzidakis, a special plan for the immediate issuance of these pensions is being developed in cooperation with the General Secretariat of Public Administration Information Systems using special software and automation. “Both these and all outstanding private sector accounts will be cleared in the near future,” the minister noted, acknowledging that EFKA services have done their best, more than doubling the award rate.
50% of cases dealt with the basic pensions of civil servants.
Thus, August turned out to be the best August ever for FECA, as more than 20,000 pension decisions were issued during the peak of summer and holidays, an increase of 55% compared to the corresponding month last year and 100% compared to 2020. There remain 31,000 overdue applications, which, according to the EFKA administration, are mostly potentially rejected or have open debt, which is also expected to be completed in the coming days. Some 20,000 overdue basic pensions are found to be inflexible or subject to rejection and ineligibility for a variety of reasons (unsettled debts, open court cases, non-establishment of pension rights, lack of medical reports, etc.).
In total, 188,000 pensions were issued in the 8th month of 2022, which is 25,000 more than in the whole of 2020 and 65,000 more than in the whole of 2019.
