There are some brands that do not necessarily have a very good reputation in terms of reliability. Unfortunately, this applies to Renault, which is often criticized in this regard. In addition, according to a study conducted by Minute-Auto website, 75% of respondents have a bad brand image in this aspect. And our driver of the day should most likely be one of them. Indeed, David Beaudelet, who lives in the town of Rébrève-Ranchicourt (62), has dealt with a somewhat unruly model of the brand. Not to say very capricious. So much so that today he can no longer drive it, even though its engine broke back then 90,000 kilometers. Absolutely unthinkable, but it is very true.

Engine failure

In November 2016, David changed cars and chose a Renault Grand Scenic 1.6 dCi 130, June 2016, with only 10 kilometers on the odometer at the time. Then our driver is confident, since this model has been on the market for many years, and he logically believes that he is insured against the risk of breakdown. But last July, while driving on a country road, he heard a loud noise from the engine. After that, he immediately went to the garage, even though none of the warning lights were on. But on the road the noise gets louder and David decides to tow it to reduce the risks. Verdict: HS engine.

Still in dispute

According to the repairman, it is the turbine that is not working, so everything needs to be replaced. Then the mechanic gave our driver an estimate, which was reflected in 10,522 euros! Then David managed to get 30% support from Renault, then 70%. But it still boils down to the fact that he has to pay 3,160 euros to drive his vehicle. Then he asked us to help him, especially since our experts noted that the driver had maintained his car flawlessly for many years. In addition, according to our scale, an engine of this type should last at least 300,000 km. Therefore, Renault must pay for all repairs.
