On Friday, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine published on Twitter photos of Ukrainian military Mykhailo Dianov, one of which shows him before he was captured by the Russians, and the other after his release from captivity.

In the second picture, the soldier looks visibly exhausted, notes The Guardian.

“Ukrainian soldier Mykhailo Dianov is among the lucky ones” compared to some of his fellow prisoners of war, the Ministry of Defense tweeted.

“…survived Russian captivity. This is how Russia “observes” the Geneva Conventions. In this way, Russia continues the shameful legacy of Nazism,” the post reads.

CNN says it cannot independently verify the authenticity of these images.
