During the pandemic, global English-language Facebook conversations about electric vehicles (EVs) increased by 238%. The conversation is steadily going up, and most of them are doing research on the topic of electric vehicles. Although the majority of people were interested in learning more about electric vehicles, a very large percentage did not immediately consider buying an electric vehicle.
To gather more information related to EV sales, Meta conducted a survey of 10,000 people to record their views on EVs and any concerns they may have about their final decision.
An important takeaway from the survey is that many potential customers are indeed considering buying an electric vehicle in the future, with 42% actually considering electric vehicles.
Another study by the same firm found that electric vehicles made up just 4% of U.S. car sales in 2021, compared to 9% in China and 14% of new sales in Europe.
The question that worries everyone is the problems that exist and prevent the purchase of electric vehicles. According to the data obtained by the researchers, the biggest problem found is the battery life and autonomy of electric models. The lack of charging stations is another major problem, and the increased cost of electricity prevents most people from making a final decision.
The data also shows that many people who are interested in electric vehicles and are thinking about buying in the future have never driven an electric car.
Analyzing how people in cars do business, Meta says EV vendors need to provide better communications on maintenance, performance and infrastructure development to meet charging needs.
