The real star of the diamond brand Renault Espace has just retired. The departure after more than 38 years of the career of one of the most symbolic minivans in the history of automobile construction. The current and last generation was introduced in 2014 at the Paris Motor Show, and a few months later for marketing. It was refreshed in 2019, offering a new front end and updated fenders. Some changes were also noted on board, in particular at the level of the instrument panel and Easy Link multimedia system. Then it became fuller and more modern. But now Renault has finally decided to end production of its minivan this summer.

New version
The latter, however, should have an indirect replacement that can no longer carry the Espace name. It will really be a seven-seater version of the novelty Renault Australia, whose name is still unknown. In any case, this new version should evolve a lot in terms of style, since the minivan silhouette will be completely abandoned. So we have to find a car with an SUV look very similar to the Austral. However, the proportions must change in order to always be able to accommodate seven passengers on board. The interior should also radically change, taking over the on-board technologies of its younger brother, and in particular the multimedia system developed together with Google.
Peugeot 3008 competitor
At the moment, there is no word on the engines that will power the future Renault Espace, which will compete with Peugeot 5008. It will take the Austral platform and therefore should inherit its engines. A hybrid version will also be planned, probably rechargeable. We’ll know more soon, and this new generation should see the light of day next year.
