Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov walked out of a UN Security Council meeting after accusing Ukraine and its Western allies of “impunity” in Donbas, the Guardian reports.

Ukraine and its allies tried to “impose on us a completely different narrative about Russian aggression,” Lavrov claimed.

Lavrov was late for the meeting of the UN Security Council by almost an hour and a half and, as soon as he finished his speech, he wanted to leave.

British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley addressed a council meeting after Lavrov’s speech, saying the United Kingdom would support Ukraine throughout the war, however necessary.

Cleverley said that Russia was trying to “put the blame on those who impose sanctions” and that “every day the devastating consequences of the Russian invasion become more apparent.”

Cleverley spoke about Russia’s distortion of reality, saying it had no intention of invading its neighbor when he noted:

“He left the hall, I’m not surprised, I don’t think that Mr. Lavrov wants to hear the collective condemnation of this council.”
