In the current context, where more and more end users are complaining about high electricity bills, ANRE announced on Wednesday that it has launched unannounced inspections at six electricity distribution operators to verify legal obligations to read the consumption index.
In the current context, when more and more end users complain about the high values of their electricity bills, in order to check how to fulfill the legal obligation to read the index of the group of household customers with a maximum interval of 3 months, in order to issue regular invoices, NARE has started unexpected control actions of the following electricity distribution operators:
- Electricity distribution in Romania
- Distribution of energy in Oltenia
- Delgaz Grid
- E-Distribution Muntenia
- Banat electronic distribution
- Electronic distribution of Dobrudzha
NARE received 615 petitions related to operators not reading the electricity meter pointer
The importance of reading the index of the meter by the distribution operator and transmitting it to the supplier is important, because the supplier is obliged to bill for the actual amount of electricity consumed based on this index.
ANRE also carried out control actions with the same subject, applying illegal sanctions for the total amount of 4,860,000 lei to electricity distribution operators for actions committed between 01.05.2020 and 31.12.2021, namely:
- Electric Power Distribution Romania – 1,070,000 lei
- Oltenia Energy Distribution – 590,000 lei
- Delgaz Grid – 800,000 lei
- Muntenia E-Distribution – 800,000 lei
- E-Distribution Banat – 800,000 lei
- E-Distribution Dobrogea – 800,000 lei
We would like to clarify that in 2022, NARE received 615 appeals regarding non-removal of electricity meter readings by electricity distribution operators.
