On Tuesday, deputies adopted a draft law that gives employees new rights. In particular, the bill amends the Code of Labor Laws and the Code of Administrative Offenses and provides, among other things, vacation days in addition to salary for various special situations.

These are days of leave for the care or support of a relative or cohabitant. Thus, the employer is obliged to provide, upon written application of the employee, leave for care or care of a relative or a person living in the village. in the same family and who needs care or support due to a serious medical problem.

It should be noted that the period of this leave is not included in the duration of the annual leave and constitutes the length of work and specialty.

Also, the conditions for granting care leave are established by a joint order of the Minister of Labor and Social Solidarity and the Minister of Health.

The employer will be fined between 4,000 and 8,000 lei for not granting care leave to eligible employees.

Another amendment introduced by the deputies provides that “an employee has the right to be absent from work for no more than 10 working days in unforeseen situations”, for example, in family situations caused by illness or an accident.

In this case, the employer and the employee establish by mutual agreement the method of compensating the absence time.

Another newly introduced provision concerns the employer’s obligation to provide parental leave upon the employee’s written application.

At the same time, parliamentarians made changes to the Administrative Code regarding civil servants who will be able to work remotely, but not more than five days a month.

Civil servants who have children under the age of 11, who care for a relative, have a health condition that prevents them from traveling, or engaging in activities determined by the head of a state body or institution, can use the benefit. remote work mode. carried out remotely.

The Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making body in this case, the law is sent to President Klaus Iohannis for promulgation.
