Establishing a profit margin ceiling for firewood and pellets said the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiades.
Speaking to SKAI on Monday morning, Mr. Georgiadis said that “we perceive the rise in prices for wood and pellets and it is logical that they should be compared with last year due to the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis. But it is unreasonable to see such large increases. To curb this, we will put a ceiling on profit margins, as we do for food and various other products. We are discussing with the services of the ministry which reporting month we will establish.”
As to whether fuel subsidies will continue, he said that “we cannot leave the world unprotected. The Greek government has become a role model throughout Europe. They are trying to copy the measures we first took. We will continue and expand measures. We’ll all spend this winter together.”
