In the last 24 hours, 1,801 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were registered in Romania, which is 167 less than the previous day, as well as 12 deaths, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health on Friday.

The 382 new cases registered in the last 24 hours are re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first illness.

The most new cases of COVID-19 in Bucharest – 258 and in the counties of Cluj – 141 and Timișoara – 115.

The highest incidence rate remains in the county of Cluj – 2.39, followed by Timișoara – 2.25.

Over the last day, 2,797 RT-PCR tests were conducted (1,799 – according to the diagnosis and medical protocol and 998 – according to the request) and 14,349 express antigen tests. To date, 13,471,469 RT-PCR tests and 11,435,215 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.

In total, 3,250,909 cases of infection with the new coronavirus have been registered in Romania since the beginning of the pandemic.

Unlike new cases, after retesting patients who had already tested positive, 95 people tested positive in the last 24 hours.

Deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours

1,668 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized in specialized medical departments, which is three less than the previous day, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday.

139 patients are being treated at the ACI, two less than the previous day, of which 126 were not vaccinated against COVID.

Out of the total number of those hospitalized, 208 are minors, hospitalized in the department.

In the last day, 12 deaths among patients with COVID were registered (eight men and four women).

Of the 12 deceased, one was registered in the age category of 30-39 years, three – in the age category of 60-69 years, two – in the age category of 70-79 years, and six – in the age category of over 80 years.

According to the Ministry of Health, all the deceased had concomitant diseases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 66,900 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died in Romania.
