Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke asked ministers on Wednesday to develop plans for measures to reduce electricity wastage at the level of public institutions. Measures must be submitted to the Government meeting more than 2 weeks in advance. Energy Minister Virgil Popescu also gave an example of measures that can be taken.

• “Here in Romania, something can be done… I think we have much more room for maneuver than other countries. I think that in our country, both domestically and in other areas, public institutions believe that there is an opportunity, for example, to replace inefficient lighting devices with efficient lighting devices, which is possible in other Member States. We have opportunities…”, This was announced by Energy Minister Virgil Popescuregarding the proposals of the European Commission to reduce the wastage of electricity.

In response, Prime Minister Chuke requested that these opportunities be materialized in measures at the level of each ministry, which will be presented at the government meeting more than 2 weeks ago.

• “Each ministry should take measures so that we are an example of waste reduction at the level of state institutions,” said the prime minister.
