President of the Turkish Parliament: “A threat to Turkey’s security” Greece

Raising his tone, President of the Turkish National Assembly Mustafa Sedop, during a meeting with the Speaker of the Maltese Parliament, went so far as to call Greece a “threat to Turkey’s security.” “It is unacceptable that Greece wants to turn the Sea of Islands (Aegean Sea) into a Greek lake,” the Turkish politician said.

Referring to developments in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, President of the Turkish National Assembly Mustafa Sentop stated that: “The rhetoric and provocative actions of the neighboring country of Greece have now turned into a threat to Turkey’s security.”

Sedop further stressed that Turkey would in no way allow Greece to continue arming the islands very close to its shores, contrary to international agreements.

“As Turkey, we stand for diplomacy and cooperation. We are in favor of solving problems through negotiations,” the Turkish politician said and continued: “Greece, on the contrary, prefers provocation to good neighborliness and honest dialogue. It is unacceptable that Greece wants to turn the Sea of Islands into a Greek lake. The violation of our airspace and the pursuit of our aircraft also continue unabated. Greece is trying to use Patriot air defense systems and Russian-made S-300s in these pursuits. It also pursued Turkish aircraft flying NATO missions in the international airspace of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Island Sea on 22, 24 August and 1 September, in the wilderness of the S-300. In this regard, since we are both NATO members and neighboring countries, we have shown our opinion and determination to solve these problems through negotiations, but if this is not done, Turkey is able to solve problems, challenges by any means.”

It is noted that only in the last few hours, the ministers of defense, foreign affairs, etc. have also opened fire against Greece. Hulusi Akar as well as Mevlut Cavusoglu but also the leader of the opposition CHP Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
