
The average number of pensioners in the second quarter was about 5 million, which is 21,000 fewer than in the previous quarter, the National Institute of Statistics said on Tuesday. The average monthly pension amounted to 1,851 lei, which is 0.3% more than in the previous quarter.
The average state social insurance pension was 1,774 lei, and the ratio between the average pension and the average net salary was 51.8% (compared to 54.4% in the previous quarter);
Social insurance pensioners make up the majority (99.98%) of the total number of pensioners, according to Statistics.
State social insurance pensioners make up 92.0% of all social insurance pensioners. According to the pension category, among social insurance pensioners, age pensioners prevailed (79.6%). Pensioners assigned to the categories of early and partial pensions make up 2.2%.
The overall ratio of the average registered number of pensioners under the state social insurance and working people was 8 to 10.
This report shows significant differences in the territorial profile: from only 4 pensioners to 10 workers in Bucharest Municipality and Ilfov County, to 15 pensioners and 10 workers in Teleorman County, from 14 to 10 in Vaslui County.

The total number of recipients of the provisions of GEO No. 6/2009 regarding the establishment of the minimum guaranteed social pension (currently – social assistance) in the II quarter of 2022 was 1,156.5 thousand people, of which:
– 1,023,600 people from the state social insurance system, which is 22.2% of all pensioners in this category;
– 126.4 thousand pensioners of the former system for peasants, which is 64.3% of their total number;
– 6.5 thousand military personnel, which is 3.3% of the total number of this category.
