Head of German diplomacy Analena Bourbok arrived today at Kyiv The German Foreign Ministry announced a surprise visit to “show” that Ukraine “can count” on Berlin’s support.

“I came to Kyiv today to show that you can continue to count on us. That we will continue to support Ukraine for as long as necessary with arms, humanitarian and financial support,” Bourbock said in a statement.

This is her second visit to Kyiv since the start of the Russian invasion of the country in February.

In addition to financial and military assistance, Germany intends to help Kyiv with demining operations, as well as “to shed light on the war crimes committed by sending experts, including a prosecutor,” the ministry said in a statement.

“It’s clear to me that (Russian President Vladimir) Putin is counting on us to get tired of Ukraine’s suffering,” she said.

However, Germany, according to the ministry, will support the Ukrainians who “fight against Russian aggression, not only to protect their human right to peace and freedom, but also to protect our own European world order.”
